The Mankarios Partnership This is a recycled site for a new company - the owner provided files from his old company's site (see Screen 2 above) and I updated the format for easier viewing, replaced logos, names, photos and text. I also replaced the navigation buttons with rollovers and added a flash slideshow to the Company Information page. At this point there is not much left of the original site! There are two schools of thought on the best way to design websites for viewing on a variety of monitor resolutions. One is to use columns that adjust width depending on the size of the visitor's monitor, as was done with this client's original site. This is called letting the site "breathe". It really depends on the page content whether or not this is a desirable effect or not. If you don't have a lot of content, then it could get lost in a sea of background color when viewed by a customer with a large monitor. The other option is to choose a fixed format that will display exactly the same no matter what size the visitor's monitor is. If a visitor has a large monitor, they will see more of the background color or graphic on the side margins. The content will completely fill the screen of a smaller monitor. The redesigned Mankarios Partners' site is an example of this format. I prefer the second method, because I'm a bit of a control freak and I want visitors to all have the same experience. But the best choice for your site depends on the amount of content you have and your personal preference. The Mankarios Partnership's "splash' page was revised initially as well, then eliminated as these are not search engine friendly. I've posted it below because it's so pretty.
